Summer Switcheroo

It recently dawned on me that Summer is just days away.

One thing I often like to do with any change of season is give a room or two in our home a cosmetic renewal.  Nothing overly expensive, just some new towels in a bathroom, or perhaps some new colors in a bedroom.

I will use any new set maybe four or five years, then recycle these sets by passing them on to one of my children's homes.  When they have adequately recycled the items, then they are donated to others or to a thrift store.

Because our first floor bathroom is a new remodel as of January, I decided this switcheroo would happen there.  Also, after I have my heel surgery, I will be confined to our first floor, so this bathroom will be getting a lot of use.  I wanted to use colors that were classy yet cheerful.

Because yellow is my favorite color, and also knowing that gray is classy and an "in" color right now, I selected those two colors for the new look.

In case you didn't see my Spring facelift of this room, here it is:

And now, for the makeover:

I know that pussy willows are typically associated with spring, but along with these yellow posies, they are a pleasant little focal point:

They occupy one side of the vanity, and on the other side are the bathroom accessories.

The gray bathroom accessories were pretty blah, (it's hard to find decent yellow or gold bathroom items), so I jazzed them up just a tad with some yellow and gray ribbons.

I found a yellow and gray wall hanging on the cheap pile at TJ-Maxx that works well on the empty wall space above the toilet, and that about finished the look.

I'm pleased with the way it all turned out, and of course I'm happy to have lots of yellow in there.

One last thing - after all the new decor went in, the husband/lover/handyman made it all handicap accessible, so after my surgery, I will be able to do all I need to do in that room, safely on one leg.

He added a shower chair, two safety handrails in the shower, and arms on the toilet.

What a guy!  He must really love me.

Last minute surgery update:  Surgery will either happen this Monday, June 17th, or later on July 1st (our 35th wedding anniversary).

I'm voting for the first option.  Stay tuned.
