After the thing that resembled a tail moved, we were fairly certain we had a live little body under there.
Yup, no doubt about it folks. There's a baby under there. A scared little young ground hog.
It has been quite a long time since we've seen any ground hogs in our yard, so we suspect this little one somehow got separated from his momma. With a little coaxing, we chased him out from under the grill, and around the side of the house.
But then he stalled under some very safe looking plant cover.
Eventually he ran under our fence and into the neighbor's yard.
I understand that ground hogs can become pests in residential areas. Even so, I did think he was kind of cute.
Maybe he just wanted some asparagus.
We just caught a baby in our live trap. They are so cute, but then they grow up.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute, but not nice.. Maybe he'll make his home in your neighbors yard..Kerry
ReplyDeleteBabies of any kind are so cute. But then they grow up and become real pains - sort of like teenagers.
ReplyDeleteIt does look cute, but growing up on a farm, it is hard to think of one as nice:)
ReplyDeleteHe is cute but I think you are probably lucky the little one moved on.
ReplyDeleteThey can devestate a garden in a short period of time.
ReplyDeleteThey are the arch nemesis of any gardener I have ever met. My FIL had to trap two or three every year and release them miles away just to keep his garden safe - and he had fencing. They didn't care.
ReplyDeleteHe is a cute lil' fella tho. I can see the allure.
Just stay out my tomato plants dude. :)
