The Making of an Elf

I am an acknowledged expert on Christmas elves.  That's because I've watched the "Elf" movie 4236 times.   No wait, make that 4237 - I watched it again last night.

I've also been aware that things in our area and at the North Pole are stirring up in preparation for Christmas.

I know this because recently I actually saw Santa's reindeer, not even 10 miles from my home!  They were grazing in a farmer's field, building up bulk I suppose for THE BIG EVENT.  Here they are in case you don't believe me.

I was very excited about this reindeer sighting, virtually right in my own backyard, and so I called my 6 year old twin granddaughters, Tori and Brianna, to report what I had seen.  I asked them if they've been good lately because Santa had obviously made a stopover in our area, and I had seen his reindeer.

There was a long period of silence.

Then Tori changed the subject.

Perhaps it's just too much pressure,  too early.

Anyway, back to the elves.

In case you haven't seen the "Elf" movie, let me educate you.  According to elf lore, there are only three jobs available to an elf.

     1.  Making shoes at night while the old cobbler sleeps.

     2.  Baking cookies in a tree.  (Very dangerous in the dry season.)

     3.  Building toys in Santa's workshop.  (This is the job all elves aspire to doing.)

Here we see elves in training:

However, I think they are missing it.  There is actually a  #4 reason for being an elf.

     4.   Simply look cute and make people smile.

Watch the making of this tiny elf, and you will see that I am correct about #4.

First, a healthy meal of green olives and Christmas tunes on the i-pad :

Next, the clean-up:

And now - the final transformation:

Is she not just the cutest tiny elf you have ever seen?
I just love her.   I'm smiling, too.
