Sleep Deprivation

Exhausted daddy
It's no wonder some countries use the torture method of sleep deprivation to wrestle information out of their captives.

Lack of sleep does weird things to a person.

Blurry vision.
Stomach ailments.
Lack of judgment.
Dizziness.
A strange buzzing sensation.
Headaches.
Diarrhea.
Bone wearying exhaustion.
Disorientation.

And yet there's a baby who still needs you.
A baby who doesn't want to sleep.
At all.

If you are a parent, you will probably remember the exhaustion of those first weeks with a newborn.

Perhaps those memories were the inspiration for the author Adam Mansbach when he wrote the book Go the F*@k To Sleep.  Although I'm not a fan of the F word, when I saw this book recently in a book review, I had to chuckle.  This is a hilarious book for new parents, who would probably actually NOT want to read it to their child.

The new parents have asked me how to deal with this sleeplessness.

I told them to take one hour at a time.  Then, take one day at a time.  Things will get into a schedule, eventually.

Maybe.

Ah, the life of new parents.
